I love being able to get in my car and drive to places and companies that I would otherwise never interact with, especially in regional areas. This allows me to help people who may not otherwise have access to allied health practitioners and to assist in them staying healthy and at work.
A typical workday typically involves a long drive to work, either listening to an audiobook (The Wheel of Time currently), podcast or music as entertainment with a coffee break on the way. Time onsite can vary, but is typically jam packed with treatments, pre-employment screens, or even getting out on the work floor, as well as debriefs with site contacts.
Having clients engaged in the program will assist in them getting the most out of it. Having an organised list with minimal missed appointments means we are seeing the right people at the right time and will allow us to help them in the best way possible.
Listening to and implementing provider advice for modified and light duties for patients is also hugely beneficial, to assist in reducing the risk for long care plans.
I stay healthy by playing cricket and AFL on the weekends for my local club Longwarry. During the week I’ll often go for a walk (slow paced due to having a lazy King Charles Cavalier as a dog) or run to stretch the legs after long days in the car.
