Exercise is as equally important to physical health as it is to mental health. Encouraging general exercise and wellbeing is so important. Workers who are fit, healthy and happy are more durable, concentrated and well-rested for the next day.
Injury prevention starts with open communication with the injured worker, Work Healthy Australia provider, workplace supervisors, managers and other key contacts.Â
I suggest organisations encourage a culture of self-care and general wellbeing. For example, they could incorporate morning team stretching programs, or get staff involved in key wellbeing events, such as Sober October.
A well-trained workforce across multiple jobs allows for rotation of roles and therefore rotation of muscles used. Encouraging fit-for-task assessments for workers you believe may be able to step up into skilled roles can help facilitate this.
Look at your claims data and have a discussion with a Work Healthy Australia representative about the daily complaints we manage, then see how often the data overlaps for things that we stop from going to claim, eg tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, carpal tunnel-like symptoms. Then read our patient testimonials and see how much your employees will appreciate it.
