The best part about my job is being able to help those who need it the most – being able to provide help and support to workers who might not be able to access healthcare. Then, seeing those people recover and get back not only to their jobs but also to the things they love to do!
Keeping active is the most common advice I give to my patients. It doesn’t necessarily mean weightlifting or boring exercises. Finding something they enjoy doing, such as playing tennis, rock climbing, or simply going for a walk.
I encourage workplaces to use all the resources Work Healthy Australia has available, whether asking me to go for a floor walk to provide training on manual handling, undertaking risk assessment or getting patients in for a Pre-Employment Screen or Injury Prevention appointment. These resources are the best prevention strategies for minimising employee injuries and supporting a safe and healthy work environment for everyone!
I keep active, whether that be walking my dog or going for a swim regularly. I also ensure I get 8 hours of sleep each night.
When I’m not onsite I’m normally working on Task Analysis for a workplace or helping research new services and technologies that can enhance clients outcomes and improve injury prevention.
