Perhaps not surprisingly, mental health and wellbeing of employees will be, or continue to be, a big focus for many organisations in the coming financial year.
When responding to our survey, attendees admitted that it was difficult to choose just one option, as many are focussing on both mental health and physical health. However, 30 per cent of respondents said that in the next financial year, they will be placing an emphasis on managing injuries, and in turn reducing WorkCover claims.
With current labour shortages and associated challenges in recruitment, 15 per cent of respondents noted recruitment and retention as their top priority.
Outside of injury management, mental health and wellbeing, recruitment and retention, 13.75 per cent of respondents said that they were focussed on other activities. Some of the activities include ergonomic assessments and education, addressing the risks of sedentary work, manual handling training, and setting up systems and strategy.
3.75 per cent of respondents said that budget constraints were prohibiting their organisation from implementing health and safety initiatives in their workplace in the short term.
